José Luis Agreda will describe what his job as Art Director of an animated film like Robot Dreams entails. In animated cinema, his work as Art Director in director Pablo Berger's latest film, Robot Dreams (Arcadia Motion Pictures) stands out. Premiered at the Cannes Festival and winner of the Contrechamp Grand Prix in Annecy, it has won the Goya for Best Animated Film and Best Adapted Screenplay, the Grand Audience Prize at the Sitges Festival, and a nomination at the Academy Awards.
Also as Art Director in the feature film Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, a film that won, among others, the Jury Prize at the Annecy Festival and the Goya 2020 for Best Animated Film.
In both cases, the films won the award for Best Animated Film at the European Film Awards.
On TV, it is worth mentioning his work as Art Director of the animated series Viking Skool in the prestigious Irish studio Cartoon Saloon, for Disney TV.
He currently works again as Art Director in the film Decorado, by Alberto Vázquez, for Uniko and Abano Films.
Experienced in the press pages, he was part of the regular team at El País Semanal for two decades, and has collaborated in major newspapers such as Fotogramas, Cosmopolitan, or Qué Leer.
Publishing comics weekly and uninterruptedly for almost twenty years in the satirical magazine El Jueves, his graphic novel Cosecha Rosa won the prestigious award for Best Work of 2001 at the Barcelona Comic Fair.
His work has been published by the main publishers in Spain (Planeta, Santillana, Espasa, Richmond, Pearson, Aguilar...) and the collection of her character Carla for the publisher Timun Mas (Planeta) stands out in the field of children's illustration, which reached with success fifteen titles.
