Based on the autobiographical novel by the bestselling author Joachim Meyerhoff, who grew up as the youngest son of the director of the largest psychiatric clinic for children and adolescents in Schleswig-Holstein. The father is very dedicated to his work and to the young patients, but also for Joachim, the patients are part of the family. Even if the action takes place in a very unusual environment, the film tells in a humorous but very emotional way about the difficulties of family life.
