Synopsis: 

A Safe Place follows Lucia, her husband, and their friends as they enjoy a peaceful holiday in a seaside village in Bulgaria. Their tranquil getaway is disrupted by the arrival of Vladimir, a mysterious stranger who unsettles the group's dynamics. When a local child inexplicably disappears, the idyllic atmosphere begins to unravel, and Lucia's own secrets threaten to surface in a place where nothing is safe anymore. 

Cecilia Ștefănescu

Cecilia Ştefănescu is a Romanian writer and journalist born in 1975 in Bucharest. She holds a degree in Litarature from the University of Bucharest and a Master's degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature. She started her literary activities in the group Litere, directed by the writer Mircea Cărtărescu. She collaborates with many magazines, she has published several novels and has participated in different collective works. In 2016, she wrote and directed the short film FERDINAND 13, which won a Special Mention at Zagreb IFF. Her second short film is MORSKI BRIZ (2018), presented at Transilvania IFF. Her latest film A SAFE PLACE (2025) was selected at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
