The ship on which Robinson is traveling has been wrecked in one of the seven seas. As the only human survivor, he barely manages to reach an apparently deserted island. Countless adventures and dangers await him there alongside his little friends: Dozy the dog, Pol the parrot, and a pair of cats called Lip and Lap. They discover the island is inhabited by cannibals, and they will have to fight against them if they want to survive while they wait for a ship to rescue them.

The main characters are Robinson Crusoe (voiced by Ion Caramitru in the Romanian version), his animals, the drunkard parrot (Pol), the kittens (Lip and Lap) and the always-sleepy shaggy dog (Daniel) and the natives of the island led by Bongo-Bongo, who constantly plot to catch and eat the castaways.

Even though it was the first animated feature film produced in Romania, it ran in the country in its entirety or in episodes only after 1990.
