Cineasta braziliană Coraci Ruiz documentează pe parcursul a trei ani procesul tranziției de gen a fiului său adolescent, Noah. Folosind imagini de arhivă, filmul reprezintă intersecția viziunilor a trei generații: bunica, mama și adolescentul, care se găsește în mijlocul unei crize de identitate. Într-o încercare de a înțelege transformările interioare ale copilului, cineasta și mama ei, două feministe convinse, reflectează asupra noțiunii de gen prin prisma tinereții lor, raportându-se la procesul lor de maturizare și de acceptare a propriului corp. Filmul se dezvăluie ca o poezie de dragoste necondiționată și respect pentru deciziile celuilalt, chiar și atunci când acestea nu sunt perfect înțelese. (Monica Stan)

For three years, Brazilian filmmaker Coraci Ruiz documents the gender transitioning of her teenage son, Noah. Employing archival footage, the film represents the intersection between the visions of three generations: the grandmother, the mother, and the teenager, who finds himself in a full-blown identity crisis. In an attempt to understand the child’s inner transformations, the filmmaker and her mother, two convinced feminists, reflect on the notion of gender through the prism of their own youth, relating to their own process of growing up and accepting their bodies. The film reveals itself as a poem of unconditional love and respect for the decisions of others, even when these aren’t fully understood. (Monica Stan)

BIO RO Coraci Ruiz

Coraci Ruiz a absolvit programul de licență în Coregrafie (2002), pe cel de masterat în Cultură Audiovizuală și Media (2009) și pe cel de doctorat în Multimedia (2020), toate în cadrul Unicamp (SP/Brazil). De asemenea, în 2005 a participat la atelierul de film documentar al EICTV. Activează ca realizatoare de film documentar din 2003 și este cofondatoare a casei de producție Laboratorio Cisco. Cel mai recent proiect al lui Ruiz este lungmetrajul Blooming on the Asphalt (care a fost selectat de LAB DOC of DOCSP, sub îndrumarea Martei Andreu, și de WIP – Conecta Chile).

Coraci Ruiz has a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance (2002), a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Culture and Media (2009), and a PhD in Multimedia (2020), all from Unicamp (SP/Brazil.) In addition, in 2005 she participated in the EICTV documentary filmmaking workshop. A documentary filmmaker since 2003, she is also the co-founder of the production company Laboratorio Cisco. Ruiz is currently working on a feature film, Blooming on the Asphalt (which has been selected for the LAB DOC of DOCSP 2020, under the tutoring of Marta Andreu, and for the WIP of Conecta Chile.)
