Jill şi Joy au grijă de casa doamnei Rosebud, care e plecată într-o călătorie. Într-o zi, o maşină nu cu mult mai mare decât o cutie de pantofi intră într-un morman de zăpada din apropiere. Familia miniaturală aflată înăuntru supraviețuieşte ca prin minune, fără nicio zgârietură. De vreme ce un copac tăiat le-a distrus casa, ei îşi caută refugiu lângă cele două fete prietenoase. Noii prieteni se potrivesc de minune în căsuța pentru păpuşi a copilelor, unde au tot ce le trebuie: mese, scaune, paturi, care par a fi făcute pe măsura lor. În timp ce maşinuța este la reparat, în garaj, nişte localnici sunt pe urmele familiei McTinies. Din fericire, Jill şi Joy sunt ajutate de şeriful Ronny Righteous şi de soția acestuia, Pompinella Prune, dar şi de vecinele lor, Tinglestein şi Tanglestein, două doamne istețe, care le uimesc pe fetițe cu puterile lor magice. Împreuna petrec o iarnă plină de aventuri, iar la sfârşit au parte şi de puțină magie de Crăciun.

Jill and Joy housesit for Mrs. Rosebud, who has gone on a journey. One day a little car, not much bigger than a shoebox, drives into a snowbank nearby. The miniature family McTinie has luckily survived the accident unscathed. As a cut tree destroyed their own home, they seek refuge with the two friendly girls. The new friends fit nicely into the children’s dollhouse and have everything they need: tables, chairs, beds – and everything is perfect for their size. While the small car is being repaired at the garage, it seems that some local residents are out to catch the McTinies. Fortunately Jill and Joy get help from Sheriff Ronny Righteous and his wife Pompinella Prune, as well as from their neighbors Tinglestein and Tanglestein, two smart ladies who amaze the children with their magic power. They spend an exciting adventurous winter together and can celebrate a little magic Christmas party at the end.
