The story of Feurat Alani, a French-Iraqi journalist who talks with feeling about his Iraq, which is so much more than the Iraq we know from TV news, and where the little stories coexist with the big story. It is also the tragedy of a son born in France who retraces his father Amir's footsteps to strengthen ties with his country of origin. Central to the film is Amir’s funeral ceremony, the fatiha, at which Feurat recalls intimate memories of his father. This is how he tells us Amir’s story, and the story of Iraq, which has barely known peace since its creation.
