Sonic Duo w/ Golan (Hybrid) & Călin, Transglobal Underground (DJ Set) & Low Freq 18+

We play with numbers but not with music, where we get pretty serious. So, on 11.11, at 11 PM this Saturday, we offer you a Sonic Duo recipe where we tang along two musical cultures – one rooted in electronic music and the other anchored in a more bass-sound culture.

Golan, with a hybrid set & Călin will champion the sonic realm of electronics, and Transglobal Underground (DJ Set) and Low Freq will be the patrons of subfrequencies.

Our mission is to bring together different cultures on the dancefloor and to allow the dancers to experience further sounds and travel through various tempos while heart and feet are locked in a musical diversity.

GOLAN is an electronic-acoustic band,  formed in Bucharest, Romania.

The group is best known for being one of the first local acts that combined electronic music with acoustic instruments, vocal melodies and sampling in this unique way.

Their musical backgrounds mix in classic and jazz influences, melodic compositions and songwriting with contemporary electronic music.

Formed in 2013, the group has had one of the quickest ascents in the Romanian electronic music scene. Winners of the “Best Electro” award in 2014, given by “Sunete” magazine, they became instant headliners all over the country. Since 2015, Golan has had numerous performances  all across Europe. In March 2016,  Golan also had their first European tour since their debut.

The release concert for the “Intro” album also debuted a new performance format for the band, called “Golan Symphonic”. This format is a mix between a forty to sixty piece orchestra and the Golan members.

Currently, the group has established itself into the party scene, drawing a lot of audience to its hybrid set. This performance combines infectious house and minimal influenced grooves with live bass playing , live synthesizers and live vocals in an electrifying 2-3 hours set.

Long known for their scorching live shows, Transglobal Underground are back in full form after emerging into a new post-Covid, post-Brexit world and have been blowing audiences away around the UK in 2022 and 2023. The two founder members, Hamid ManTu and Tim Whelan, will be at the Control Club playing a unique DJ set in their first appearance outside the UK since 2019.

So what is Transglobal Underground? Well it’s been a DJ/musical collective, a working band famous for it’s scorching live shows, a techno soundsystem, a folk festival rabble rouser, a pop group, a club night, a Middle Eastern hit production team, an improvised study group for Indian classical music, an Albanian brass band, a duo..or was it an octet?…a seminar, a medicine show and several things no one involved would admit to if they could even remember them.

Transglobal Underground came into being during the electronic dance scene of the early 90s. Pioneers in the mixing of club culture with world music, their first single ‘Temple Head’ went Top 30 and their debut album, ‘Dream of 100 Nations’ top 20. They became best known for their live shows which made them festival favourites and have seen them touring worldwide ever since. Along the way they picked up a BBC World Music award for their seventh album ‘Moonshout” and an IMA award for their work with the Albanian band Fanfara Tirana.
