For the past decade, Preoccupations have crafted a distinct post-punk sound, where brittle, stabbing guitars clash with cavernous drums and sinuous basslines, creating a tense yet immersive sonic landscape. Their music is both formidable and familiar, evolving from interesting rhythms and aggressive sounds, to more 80s synth pop inspired ones.

Thursday, October 2, they will be introducing to the public of Control Club their new album, set to be relased in May - Ill at Ease.

This is one that ventures into new sonic territories while staying true to the band's introspective and dark lyrical core. Influenced by whatever lingers in their collective subconscious, the music channels anxieties, existential dread, and fleeting hope through vivid, sometimes dystopian landscapes.

The lyrics explore barren worlds of shame and death, distant sci-fi realms of solitude, and the absurdity of modern existence. Some songs feel like personal reflections, questioning purpose and stability, while others are a resigned gaze at a world spiraling toward collapse.

After 13 years, the band remains dedicated to creating and sharing their evolving vision. While the ground still holds beneath them, Ill at Ease captures the lingering sense that it might not for much longer.
