Baptiste Herbin is a French saxophonist born on October 17, 1982, in Paris. He is considered one of the most talented young jazz saxophonists in Europe, known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to seamlessly blend different styles of music.
Herbin began playing the saxophone at a young age and was largely self-taught. He was heavily influenced by the music of jazz legends such as John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. He quickly developed a reputation as a talented saxophonist, and he began performing professionally while still a teenager.
In the early 2000s, Herbin moved to New York City to study with some of the best jazz musicians in the world. He studied at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he honed his skills and developed his unique style of playing.
Herbin’s career took off in the mid-2000s, and he quickly established himself as a rising star in the jazz world. He recorded his first album, “Le Sud,” in 2007, which was critically acclaimed. Herbin’s playing on the album was characterized by his technical prowess and his ability to incorporate different styles of music into his playing.
Throughout the 2010s, Herbin continued to release albums and perform on some of the biggest stages in the world. He played at several major jazz festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival. He also collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Wynton Marsalis and Roy Hargrove.
In addition to his recordings and performances, Herbin is known for his work as a music educator. He has taught at several music schools and workshops throughout Europe, and he is a faculty member at the Conservatoire National de Région de Boulogne-Billancourt.
