The NexT Is Feminist program is a selection of short films that brings its audience stories told from a feminine perspective and that addresses subjects concerning the rights and identity of women, talking either about growing up, sexuality or maternity.
All Their Shades depicts the reasons to love women through different portraits which parade swiftly and in Impossible Figures and Other Stories II, a woman’s home proves to be built from paradoxes, filled with illusions and covered with patterns. While the protagonist of Deep Blue is an 18 year old young woman who wakes up beside her lover on the day of her baptism, Stay Ups follows a middle aged woman who is about to get nightly visits from a young man, but her child is, as usual, in the way. In Clumsy Little Acts of Tenderness, a father and his daughter end up on a life-changing adventure in the supermarket, at the endless sanitary towel shelf and in Test Shooting, an unprofessional male model follows the instructions for photo sessions given to women by matrimonial sites. What Happened to Her explores the cultural obsession with images of dead women on screen and Lucia, Before and After is a film about a woman waiting out Texas’ state-mandated 24-hour waiting period before her abortion can proceed, after travelling 200 miles.
