Synopsis:
A journalist from Moldova, estranged from her father who emigrated to Italy years ago, discovers that he has become a victim of workplace abuse. As she decides to help him expose his employer and seek legal protection, old wounds are reopened and a parallel journey begins, one through a present and past marked by violence.
Short bio
Lina Vdovîi wrote the feature-length documentary ACASĂ, MY HOME (2020), winner of the Best Documentary Award at the 2021 Gopo Awards, as well as numerous national and international prizes. Originally from the Republic of Moldova, Lina lives in Romania, where she has gained extensive experience in investigative journalism, narrative journalism, and new media. Throughout her career, she has received multiple awards for her work published in major national and international publications, covering topics such as migration, conflict zones, poverty, education, and social integration. Lina is one of the journalists nominated for the European Press Prize. She began her television journalism career as a news and documentary producer for the German public broadcaster ZDF. TATA is her directorial debut in feature-length documentary filmmaking.
Radu Ciorniciuc is a director, cinematographer, and investigative journalist. His debut feature-length documentary, ACASĂ, MY HOME, had an impressive festival journey - from winning the Award for Best Cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival (2020) to being nominated in the Official Selection of the European Film Awards (EFA 2020), as well as receiving Best Documentary awards at festivals such as DOK.fest München, Krakow Film Festival, ZagrebDox, Dublin International Film Festival, and Sofia International Film Festival.
Radu is one of the co-founders of the independent media organization Casa Jurnalistului. Since 2012, he has worked as an investigative reporter for multiple publications and television networks, including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, and Channel 4 News, earning numerous national and international awards. His reporting focuses primarily on human rights, animal welfare, and environmental issues.
