Since childhood, HE considered himself to be a girl rather than a boy. He was calling himself SHE and wore dresses. HE/SHE grew up with this dilemma. At 30, the confusion persists. She lives in a village in Maramureş, plays folk music at weddings and in bars. Nothing unusual, except that a man's name is written in his ID. In the small village she lives in, SHE seems to be fully accepted by the community. Moreover, villagers are glad that Romania has entered the EU, and thus SHE could also marry. SHE tells her life, how and whom she loved, jealous men, love stories that ended in beatings. She testifies how she was forced to become a prostitute in Spain and how she returned to the country more dead than alive, drugged, with blood flowing from her nose and her mouth, bound to infusions. Now she bought some animals to spend more time at home.
This performance is presented as part of the MNAC Bucharest Performing Arts Programme, curated by director Ioana Păun.
