The Two Wrongs series returns in full force on the 22^nd of October, stretching across genres and generations to make your Thursday evening one to remember.

Long before Memphis rap reshaped global hip-hop, before the sound of the underground South travelled from cassette decks into clubs, car stereos and eventually the DNA of modern rap music, there was DJ Spanish Fly. Widely recognized as the Godfather of Memphis rap, Spanish Fly’s raw, bass-heavy tapes circulated hand-to-hand across Tennessee and the wider South throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, helping define the city’s distinctive street sound.

Future stars such as DJ Paul, Juicy J, DJ Squeeky, and other young local artists studied his tapes, inspired by production techniques nobody else in the city had understood yet. Spanish Fly’s influence shaped generations of artists but his greatest achievement was creating the conditions that allowed Southern rap to exist at all.

Today, Spanish Fly remains an active cultural force. He is a resident DJ on NTS Radio, appeared in the Netflix series Hip-Hop Evolution, and continues to perform worldwide, from underground rap events and Memphis clubs to major art institutions including MoMA PS1 and Bourse de Commerce in Paris.

Kush Jones is a multi talented producer, DJ, and music visionary who has redefined the landscape of bass-driven music. Hailing from the Bronx, New York, Kush seamlessly merges the raw energy of footwork, techno, and club music with influences drawn from hip-hop, dancehall, and experimental soundscapes. His innovative approach has positioned him as a leading force in the global underground electronic music scene.

Renowned for his ability to transcend genres, Kush Jones crafts electrifying, bass-heavy productions that fuse traditional rhythms with futuristic sound design. His signature style—a blend of intricate beat patterns, gritty textures, and infectious grooves—resonates deeply with both club crowds and experimental music enthusiasts. Always pushing boundaries, Kush has earned a devoted fanbase while solidifying his reputation as a true pioneer in modern electronic music.

Join established rap legend DJ Spanish Fly and bass music powerhouse Kush Jones, as they take a transatlantic voyage to bring their sounds to Control Club’s Berlin Room for Two Wrongs, on October 22^nd.
