Infiinţată în 2008, în plină perioadă de înflorire a muzicii indie, ca proiect individual izvorât din nevoia de expresie creativă a poetului Craig Dyer, trupa The Underground Youth din Manchester readuce psych rock-ul la frumuseţea brută şi sensibilă a esteticii minimaliste. Această abordare back to basics este şi astăzi una din cele mai bune variante de manifestare a muzicii alternative. Sound-ul hypnotic izvorât parcă direct din psihedelia The Velvet Underground este încărcat de nostalgie shoegaze cu ecouri goth, ceea ce face ca experienţa ascultării să fie chiar filmică.

Fidel numelui provenit dintr-o poezie scrisă de Dyer la 16 ani, acesta este un oponent declarat al industriei muzicale şi adeptul unei etici DIY ce apare ca cea mai potrivită metodă de compoziţie şi producţie pentru muzica sa marcată de ecouri şi reverb, la înregistrări lucrând cu încă un chitarist (Frankie Franke) şi soţia sa Olya la tobe. Din 2012 colaborează cu label-ul independent Fuzz Club Records, Delirium fiind primul release al acestei case. De-a lungul celor opt albume şi două EP-uri acesta şi-a păstrat metoda de a compune şi produce singur în studioul propriu, apelând la un producător abia în 2015, pentru înregistrările la cel mai recent LP, Haunted.

Deşi creaţia este aproape exclusiv personală, Dyer optează în cazul live-urilor pentru o formulă de patru (voce, tobe, două chitari şi bas) ce poate produce un sunet garage pasional, crud şi feroce. Acest blend de post punk inspirat şi infuzat de precursori ca The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Joy Division, Bob Dylan sau chiar Spaceman 3 le-a adus un following dedicat în toată lumea şi bineînţeles un fan base activ în România.

Started in 2008 as the bedroom project of Craig Dyer, The Underground Youth’s blend of dark psychedelic post-punk music has developed a worldwide loyal fan base that continues to grow. Since 2012 the band have completed a number of lengthy tours through Europe seeing them consistently sell out shows and receive widespread praise for their festival performances.

Through independent record label Fuzz Club Records TUY have released 5 LP's and 3 EP’s, all of which have since sold out and been re-pressed. The band have recently relocated from Manchester to Berlin where they are in the studio recording a new LP to be released in early 2017.

The live band currently consists of Craig Dyer (Vocals, Guitar) Olya Dyer (Drums) Max James (Bass) and Mark Vernon (Guitar). Combining walls of noise, raw energy and catchy melodies TUY create a captivating live experience that is not to be missed.
