Rising stars MOSES will perform for the first time in Bucharest this autumn – October 4 at Control. Opening for them is PLANT, one of the freshest sounds out of Bucharest’s alternative scene. The show is part of a series of events marking Control’s 16th anniversary.
The latest musical project of singer-songwriter Marius “Gopo” Moise (former The MOOod frontman), this UK-based band has taken international stages by storm ahead of the release of their highly-anticipated third album. Don’t miss this special homecoming show featuring one of the most distinctive voices of the Romanian underground music scene!
Tickets are now available via Eventbook.
A one band scene, MOSES have an arsenal of heavy-pop tuned rock bangers and a word-of-mouth reputation for delivering Anthems All Areas. Internationally. Not yet a household name, they nevertheless earn excited feedback with every release or live performance (an “arena-worthy” experience on any size stage).
To date, their “Greatest-Hits-sounding” albums Almost Everything Is Bullshit (2020) and I Still Believe! Do You? (2022) have received nothing but praise.
The third (as yet untitled) LP is their best and boldest work so far. Produced again by Gavin Monaghan at his aptly named Magic Garden Recording Studio in Wolverhampton, it’s due for release later in 2024.
Some of these grand new songs were unveiled at USA tour dates and received amazing feedback with their new fans catching every set and singing the songs back to the band. One of the venues calling them the best set of SXSW Festival 2023.
Their song Cause You Got Me has also officially soundtracked the Tomb Raider Movie, been played at the Texas Stars Ice Hockey Arena and on CBS TV’s nationwide Good Morning America.
Meanwhile, on the creative front, Bucharest is establishing itself as one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. The Romanian capital is a real artistic hive, with an alternative scene that is literally booming. Just listen to the music of PLANT, a new trio predisposed to pogo, electric guitar and organic anthems.
Between guitarist Sergiu Frățilă’s voice, Dan Gugiu’s bass and Teodor Șindrilaru’s drums, the alchemy is perfect. Influenced by the great writers of Romanian literature, and inspired by the best of post-punk, but also by the roots of English shoegaze, PLANT emerged in the summer of 2021 with the four tracks of their Demos EP.
Known for their powerful live shows, the trio is walking in the footsteps of Travka, one of the most emblematic alternative rock bands in Romanian history. Aware of their national heritage, the Bucharest trio is also influenced by bands like Ride and Slowdive, in addition to the krautrock energy of the likes of Thee Oh Sees. With all these influences in its bag, PLANT are becoming one of the best ambassadors of the European punk scene.
Released this winter, the album Electrocasnic depicts Romanian pop culture and shakes up the modern world with riffs inspired by Gang of Four, The Undertones and Buzzcocks. Passionately written and uncompromisingly sung, the tracks recorded on this debut album sow the seeds of a shimmering future.
