Lena Willikens returns to Control, and the dancefloor should prepare itself. Because Lena Willikens doesn’t do predictable. A master of leftfield selections and dancefloor curveballs, she moves between UK bass mutations, motorik rhythms and obscure Northern European synths with a holistic grasp of the groove and a record collection that never stops growing. Every set of hers is a fresh exercise in tension, release and unexpected connections, for dancers who like their grooves slippery and their horizons wide.

A former raver turned cult DJ, Willikens honed her craft behind the decks at Düsseldorf’s Salon des Amateurs before taking her sound worldwide. Alongside her NTS radio show Homunkuli, she produces, remixes and collaborates with Vladimir Ivkovic and artist Sarah Szczesny on the audiovisual project Phantom Kino Ballet.
