French artist Johan Papaconstantino will play for the first time in Romania – June 8 at Control Club – as part of a European tour to promote his latest album, Premier Degré. Self-taught and multidisciplinary, his music combines electronic influences with his Greek roots and the oriental sounds of his youth.

Tickets are now on sale via Eventbook.ro.

Johan Papaconstantino made his debuts mixing funk and electro records on his family’s turntables, while listening to the Greek music his father liked so much. His Corsican mother was more fond of RnB and French pop. “All kinds of music left their mark on me. I believe I am very open music-wise…I want to build bridges between genres. I want to try to bring together sensations and share them, while singing in French, because it is my language.”, the Aix-en-Provence-born artist says. An unhappy love affair was enough for him to call his first song Pourquoi tu cries?, immediately noticed by the public. Hence Johan redoubled his efforts: “Today, music is at the core of my life. I work every day, playing the bouzouki, singing, sound engineering as well because I produce, I make everything from A to Z.”

In Premier Degré, Johan Papaconstantino zooms in on the everyday life and every little thing that makes it: conviviality (Beau Temps featuring Rad Cartier), seduction (Glass), fatherhood (Tata and its burning bouzouki), reassurance (Bricolo), but also passion with Mode d’emploi and its brilliant refrain-ritornello bathed in a delicious groove.

There is something frankly irresistible in Johan Papaconstantino’s songs, something that makes you want to listen to them on repeat, with a smile on your lips, body moving to the recurring rhythms of these songs that carry you straight to the dancefloor.
