Ùmia is a recently formed sax trio that met in the city of Milan, which gave the opportunity for the three musicians to collaborate in different groups, delving into different styles in the sphere of jazz music.

The shared experience, friendship and a common musical direction that binds them led to the decision to offer themselves as a trio, ranging between traditional jazz and original music by each of the components, always trying to give importance to the extemporaneous interpretation of them given by the natural interplay.

Each piece in fact, regardless of the style to which it belongs, is presented according to its own way of experiencing music by taking risks and traveling unknown and always new roads. The name of the group comes from a new word, previously nonexistent, born from the pure imagination of a two-year-old child intent on naming the music itself. A new name to define music, to give life to a project that wants to bring something new and above all sincere, starting from what one really is and feels and how one one strives to be.

The trio in the spring of 2023 released their debut album Permanent Colors, on Honolulu Records label, aimed precisely at describing the diversity of everyone and the mutability of everything that is often misunderstood by appearances. A single note can turn into the company of one chord rather than another; it can be here or there; today or yesterday...
