On All Hallows' Eve, Control summons Cabinet Caligari: a night of shadows and synthesis, where the ghost of silent cinema meets the return of our long-standing ‘Cabinet’ nights from the club’s vaults. Dr. Caligari's sleepwalker may have stalked the screen, but this is a night for somnambulists hypnotized by a different kind of trance. Question is, are YOU riding with the circus?

BERLIN ROOM

DAVID CARRETTA [FR]

David Carretta has been bending the edges of techno since the late eighties, when punk, new wave and industrial music first found their way into his machines. A discreet pioneer of the French scene, he became a defining voice of the electroclash era alongside Vitalic and Miss Kittin with releases like “Vicious Game” and his albums Le Catalogue Electronique and Kill Your Radio. Through his label Space Factory and more recent work, Carretta continues to put the bite back into synth music, drawing on EBM, Italo disco and cold wave. He’s a master of tension between torment and pleasure, still dangerous after three decades.

LA MVERTE [FR]

La Mverte has spent the past decade building a world where club music and imaginary cinema share the same dark corridors. Since his debut EP Through The Circles in 2014, the French producer has moved between synth wave, cold wave, post-punk and more club-oriented electronics, while composing live scores for La Cinémathèque Française. His new album, Media Nocte, gathers these strands into a shape-shifting nocturnal trip, from sweaty synths and rockabilly shadows to dub, krautrock and ethereal haze. His music is for those hours when the plot gets strange and the dancefloor starts feeling a little bit possessed.

WALENTIN PAUER & NEK

Two of our longtime residents take control of this descent into the uncanny. On one side, the lens finds Walentin Pauer working in darker textures and sharp-edged experiments. On the other, Nek conjures his highs through a dreamlike, cinematic haze. Years of fiendship and time behind the decks have tuned their instincts for navigating altered states and guiding the room into realities that never quite hold their shape.

MOSS FARAI & DENADA

A Control fixture for fifteen years himself, Moss Farai trusts records to do what algorithms cannot. His long-form sets weave leftfield disco, Afro rhythms and Balearic ease, keeping a love for the music shining bright, away from the shadows.

DeNada’s answer to disco without the posturing. Her selections move with bounce, warmth and a generous dose of personality, cutting through the noise and landing where they should: right in your shoes.
