Ten years ago, Horse Jumper of Love released an album they barely expected anyone to hear. On November 17, they play it in full at Control.

Written when frontman Dimitri Giannopoulos was 19 and quietly released on Bandcamp in 2016, Horse Jumper of Love began as nine rough-edged slowcore songs with few ambitions beyond covering the cost of recording. Word travelled anyway.

The self-titled debut gradually became a cult record, its aching guitars, loose production and yearning vocals finding an audience well beyond Boston’s house-show circuit. Horse Jumper of Love went from basement shows to international tours and opening for Duster, while the record became a reference point for a new generation of slowcore and shoegaze bands. All while songs like “Ugly Brunette” and “Orange Peeler” remain central to Horse Jumper of Love’s story.

To mark its tenth anniversary, Run For Cover is giving the record its first proper remaster, alongside unreleased songs, demos and alternate versions. The band are taking the anniversary one step further on tour, performing the original album from beginning to end.
