Some artists fit neatly into a box. Roman Flügel has spent three decades making sure he doesn’t. A house and techno polymath with a taste for surprise, his sets move freely between moods, tempos and textures, always giving the music room to breathe before taking the dancefloor to unexpected territories. 

As a producer, DJ, live artist and label founder, Flügel has helped shape the sound of European electronic music since the early ’90s, co-founding Ongaku, Klang Elektronik and the legendary Playhouse. From Alter Ego to DIAL, Phonica and ESP Institute, his restless curiosity runs deep. 

As Control turns 18, one of Germany’s true originals returns to the Berlin Room. Saturday, October 3.
