A boat sailing on the Danube to Istanbul gathers several characters that resume the story of "The abduction of the maidens". The pasha of Vidin takes a group of enslaved children as a gift for the sultan. Haricleea, the wife of the murdered ruler, hides on her a treasure of jewelry. And there's also Maria, the daughter of treasurer Dudescu who was killed by the late ruler. Captain Amza's group of outlaws follows the boat closely. His lover, Anița, is also involved in their adventurous action. In the end the children are released, Maria kills Haricleea and then she dies, too, together with the pasha of Vidin, while they fight over the treasure on the boat that is slowly sinking into the Danube.
