Tema din 2026, Witness, pornește de la o constatare: înconjurați și suprasaturați de imagini, vedem, dar nu mai știm să privim. Aproape orice moment poate fi captat și consumat instantaneu, dar ce aduce sens și valoare universală unei imagini? Bucharest Photofest propune o reflecție asupra modului în care fotografia surprinde forța și reziliența spiritului uman, abordând teme socio-politice și culturale prin narațiuni vizuale puternice.
Bucharest Photofest este festivalul internațional de fotografie al Bucureștiului, fondat în 2016 de Centre for Alternative Music & Arts, organizație culturală independentă din capitală. În fiecare octombrie, timp de zece zile, fotografia este privită ca artă, ca exercițiu de gândire critică și ca gest civic, într-un program multidisciplinar construit, an de an, în jurul unei teme. În primul deceniu, 2016–2025, festivalul a prezentat peste 1000 de artiști și peste 300 de evenimente unice. Este afiliat la International Photography Festival Association (IPFA) și poartă certificarea EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe), semn al apartenenței la rețeaua europeană a festivalurilor culturale de referință.
