“LIVE”, the first TNRS performance to be live streamed online from the theatre stage.
Based on a novel concept, this performance by the German Department extends a challenge to both actors and spectators, relying on a daring reconfiguration of the stage space and of how the artistic product is built in the space of a digital video. Thus, the actors who perform each representation live are video operators at the same time, while the stage becomes a hybrid space, where theatre, film and television interweave. Inspired from the reality of the year 2020, “LIVE” is the first show by the National Theatre in Sibiu to be broadcast live online, on the Digital Stage, each time it will be performed in our Big Hall. The premiere (24 July) and the two representations of the show scheduled for 25 and 26 July will pe performed with no spectators in the hall.
“LIVE”, the result of a long process of discovery in these uncertain times
What is truth? What is reality? The ongoing pandemic has brought society to a halt. It gave us the opportunity to find new ways to question the nature of theatre and its truthfulness. “LIVE" is the result of a long process of discovery in these uncertain times. An experimental media hybrid: a recurring live event, accessible online anywhere in the world in a per-per-view system. Five stories in the virtual space of the internet tell about the different possibilities of reality in our postfactual age of alternative truths. In times when everything seems possible and believable as long as we succeed in establishing an emotional connection to human vulnerability, our predispositions or our expectations.
