Friday, May 29, Berlin Room slips into edgy territory and danceable rhythms that don’t play it straight. The kind of night you walk into slightly unprepared and leave wondering what exactly happened.

Red Axes arrive with their rock’n’roll approach to DJing and decades of sidestepping convention, while residents Walentin Pauer, Călin & Nek keep the pressure locked between dark disco, electroclash, leftfield techno, and shadowy electronics.

The duo became Red Axes after moving to Amsterdam, building a catalogue across labels like Phantasy, Life & Death, !K7, Dark Entries, and Crosstown Rebels. Situated somewhere between left-field house, techno, darker sounds, and disco-driven drum machine rhythms, they’ve spent nearly two decades building a sound that’s witty, playful, and unapologetically rhythmic.

The breadth of their influences and their musical range becomes evident upon listening, traversing the many scenes that resonate with them - post-punk, new wave, EBM, psych and a plethora of club sounds past and new. Having started in a post-punk band together, that DNA never left, it shows in their take on Bela Lugosi’s Dead and in the dark edges of LOUD (released late 2025).

Regulars at Berghain/Panorama Bar, Dekmantel, Sonar, Primavera, Coachella and more, they’ve also launched their own label, Garzen Records, and their own festival, Garzen Festival, extending their world beyond the club. As producers, they've also had releases on top labels such as Hivern, fabric, Disco Halal, Multi Culti, Kill the DJ & more.

Restless and exploratory, Walentin Pauer cuts through dark disco, leftfield techno, electro, and experimental textures, balancing risk with instinct. Working in contrasts, his sets take unexpected turns without losing grip of the floor, shaped by years across Europe’s late-night circuits.

Nek slips between alternative dance, dark disco, electroclash, and darker electro pulses with the confidence of someone who knows exactly when to tighten the pressure and when to let the room breathe.

For Călin, DJing is less about genre and more about building a sonic thread. Pulling from different shades of electronica with constant momentum, his sets carry the drive of someone deeply obsessed with sound.
