LIVE: 4h Artist Showcase II

A record label with an in-house studio takes its productions on stage. Seven of the newest rock bands (alternative, classic rock, hyperpop, post-punk, midwest emo, grunge, metal) in town will be heard in club Control on April 1 – and that’s no joke (even though the label is actually called Foreign Humor Productions)! 

“Keeping music cool since 2022” is the motto of Foreign Humor Productions (4h, in short).

So what’s that? 4h is owned and run by Matei Tibacu-Blendea in Bucharest. Activities that the studio handles include instrument recording (with real drums and amps that sometimes need servicing!), music production, film music (short and as of 2026, long-form), composition, voice-over work, library music, music for ads and TV, theater, podcasts, galas, and instrument mentorship for all ages. 

Tough to pronounce the label name OR Matei’s whole name, but who dat? Matei has been guitarist in COMA for 10 years, bassist in Bosquito for 1 year, co-founder and multi-instrumentist in Nixa, Illuminati, Lost Society, founder/multi-instrumentist in The Details and CyborG,  and has over 25 years of experience in the music field, including intellectual property. So far he had the honor of working with artists from bands such as Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Dio, R.E.M., Santana, King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Electric Light Orchestra, The Mars Volta, Black Flag, Atheist, Death, Meat Loaf and many other heroes.

When where how much? The second edition of Foreign Humor Artist Showcase is happening in Control Club this year as well, on April 1, at 7:30 PM. Entry is 40 RON. Cause it’s in the 4^th month…and the label’s called 4h...everything is part of the concept. 

Quick recap, what’s happening then? Four bands will play live, each releasing new material on that day. Three other artists that also have new material (singles & videos) will serve as DJs with a booth opposite the stage, where they play their new stuff as well as what influenced them. Some of the ticket proceeds will be donated to P.A.V.E.L., a volunteer organization out of Bucharest that takes care of children diagnosed with cancer, in memory of Matei’s Mother, who also volunteered there in her final year on Earth. 

Almost convinced. But who’s playing? The live bands are Far Away From Earth (alternative rock), Destin (classic rock), Static Reverie (alternative rock/pop), Streamflow (grunge, alternative/groove/prog metal). Artists who will be Dj-ing are NiXA (hyperpop, 8-bit, disneycore), Vena Cava (midwest emo), and Le Garçon Triste (post-punk). Doing sound for all the bands is a special guest from Canterbury, UK: Jonn Roscoe (who has handled sound for events and artists like Sparks, Van Morrison, BBC Proms, Rita Ora, Freya Ridings, King Charles’ Coronation, Tokyo 2020 Olympics etc.)
