Kadjavsi is a project that started back in 2017, at the hands of composer and pianist Nikita Dembinski. His early releases were ambiental soundtracks which had their identity take shape from improvisatory one-takes, like ”Shifting Habits” or ”Breaks That Friend Your Heart”. In 2021, he changes the trajectory of the project by releasing his first single, ”Each Day”, a song that places Kadjavsi somewhere in the niche side of alternative-pop playlists, where he also debuts as a vocalist. Fall of 2022 marks the release of his first full-length album ”Second Sun”, where he wrote and produced the 9 songs that made the record, but also plays them alongside multiple instrumentalists, like frequent collaborator Constantin Mușat.
Joining him is Tajnic, a contemporary jazz trio with a strong musical identity, gelled together by the unique chemistry between the three instrumentalists that form this unit: brothers Florian and Iulian Nicolau, the base player and drummer of the band, and pianist Albert Tajti. Having been active players and making their names pop-up frequently on the jazz/fusion scene in Romania, the three of them met before but never in this final form. Even though their project is relatively new, their ways of communicating on scene might trick listeners easily, as improvisation is not only key to their practice but also seems impossible to be played so naturally. Recently, they’ve just released their new single ”Parfume d’Orient”.
Even though both Kadjavsi and Tajnic are different projects, the two Romanian bands decided to join forces at the start of 2023 for a series of concerts. Their collaboration premiers on the 28th of March in Club Control, where they will play Kadjavsi’s Second Sun and more.
