ctrl x Black Rhino: Aba Shanti-I 18+

As we move on to Black Rhino Residency at Control, we are happy to announce that Aba Shanti-I will join our curated events on March 8, 2025, marking his first session in Bucharest. Along Aba, local sound system builders and operators Riddim Bandits Sound System and Kaya Foundation join the lineup.

The name Aba Shanti-I is impossible to miss when talking about reggae and dub music. An innovator, a conscious selector and a heavy riddim bringer, Aba Shanti is a living legend who left a significant footprint on the world's musical heritage.

Aba rose from Jah Tubby's sound system crew, where he was a MC, to one of the leading sound systems in the UK. Taking his influence from an early age from his father, who also had a sound system, Aba grew up in the early stages of the culture where reggae, blues, calypso, soul and Motown were all mixed.

With more than 30 years of experience producing music and operating sound systems, being a resident at Notting Hill Carnival and Leicester Carnival, and being one of the founders of the University of Dub, Aba Shanti-I is a true champion of sound and one of the artists not to be missed.
