Program BIDFF - Bucharest International Dance Film Festival

BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL #8: (UN)SAFE ZONES

The 8th edition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival (BIDFF), an exquisite platform dedicated to films that use movement as their main language or the body as their main subject, will take place this year between September 8 and 11 in Bucharest, Romania.

BIDFF #8 will include the already established competitions dedicated to international and Romanian short dance films, four feature films presented for the first time in Romania, including Moonage Daydream, a cinematic odyssey exploring David Bowie’s creative journey, and Joyland, winner at the Cannes Film Festival of the Queer Palm and the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize, a VR exhibition, dance film workshops, lectures and other surprises for cinephile audiences.

This year’s theme, (Un)Safe Zones, questions the future’s safety in the face of current events and wonders what forms of art we are heading towards. What molds will movies accede to? What topics will gain relevance as we are forced to be more aware of national, bodily, and inner boundaries?

The BIDFF 2022 screenings will take place at Cinéma Elvire Popesco, Peasant Museum Cinema, Cinemax Veranda, Grădina cu Filme – Cinema & More and Fabrica Grivița, while special events will be held at CNDB - The National Center of Dance Bucharest and /SAC @ MALMAISON.
