Inspired by Lilianei Nechita's book, "Bitter cherry trees" and made after extensive documentation in localities in Vaslui county, ROVEGAN explores the phenomenon of poverty-driven migration from Eastern Europe to the West. Following the path of a contemporary fairy tale, the show fictionalizes the experience of mothers needing to go to work in Italy and questions the effects of such a dislocation on a personal and social level. ROVEGAN takes the form of a collective storytelling, following the story of a family through the prism of three generations of women and how each understands the struggle for a better life.
The representation is part of the program TRANSITIONS / euroregional program of contemporary art.
TRANSITIONS / Euroregional program of contemporary art
Transitions focuses on the current social problems of minorities and marginalized groups from the perspective of a common, euroregional context. Starting with 2019 Casa Tranzit will be the monthly host of a series of shows performed both in the country and in the vicinity, in countries such as Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova, Hungary or Slovenia.
The events speak about exceptional states, about border situations, about margins and margins, but also about the resources of reinvention, progress and conviviality.
The Transitions Program is co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN).
The program does not necessarily represent the position of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or how the results of the project can be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the beneficiary of the financing.
