Workshop reportaj poetic: Franca Mancinelli la București

Franca Mancinelli, an internationally renowned Italian poet and writer, will be the guest of the Italian Cultural Institute and the curators of Jazz Roots Poetry Series for an artistic residency dedicated to rediscovering the city of Bucharest.

During her stay, Franca will explore the city through specially designed itineraries to discover both the iconic neighbourhoods and the less explored ones of Bucharest. The residency includes a public workshop with Franca Mancinelli and the curators, which will take place on Saturday, October 26th, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore Bucharest through the lens of poetry and visual storytelling, as well as to practise creative writing.

Author of four poetry books, including Libretto di transito (2018) and Tutti gli occhi che ho aperto (2020), winner of the Europa in versi 2021 and San Vito al Tagliamento 2022/2023 awards, Franca Mancinelli's works have been translated into over fifteen languages and published in full in English thanks to John Taylor's translations in New York. Known for her poetic reportage experiences, such as the one on the refugee crisis in the Balkans, culminating in the book Come tradurre la neve (Nottetempo, 2019), and for her participation in international projects such as Chair Poet in Residence in Kolkata, Franca Mancinelli is a prominent figure in the contemporary poetic landscape.
