Eighteen years. A lifetime in club years. On Friday, October 2, we mark the first night of our anniversary with Acid Arab, who are coming back in the Berlin Room after a jam-packed visit earlier this year that sold out in a jiffy. We're about to do it all over again, and this time it’s a celebration. Everyone's invited.
BERLIN ROOM
ACID ARAB [FR]
For over a decade, Acid Arab have been carving out one of the most singular spaces in electronic music. Born from Parisian club culture and the constant exchange between diasporas, the collective treats machines and Arab, Middle Eastern, North African and Mediterranean voices, rhythms and modes as equals.
Releases on Versatile and albums on Crammed Discs share an instantly recognizable language. Over 600 performances worldwide, from Rex Club to Fabric, stand proof for the magic they bring on the dancefloor. With the new album Resonance and a soundtrack for Hassan Hajjaj's Philharmonie de Paris exhibition, they keep the Arabian Nights thread floating on.
NEK & WALENTIN PAUER
Nek & Walentin Pauer share a taste for the strange and the danceable. Nek moves through cosmic disco, alternative dance, electroclash, Balearic and driving beats, while Pauer brings layers of darkness from within, as a producer and DJ whose reckless experimentation hardened into genuine craft across Renate, Kater Blau, Virage Paris and his own Cabinet, Jetlagged and Jacked nights. Two Control residents and friends who love reading the room without sanding down its edges.
FRONT ROOM & TERRACE
CĂLIN
A Control hertz team member since 2011, Călin is a traveler through electronic music with a soft spot for a good storyline. His selections build and build, lifting the room into an energetic frenzy.
GIUSEPPE PERICOLO
The Italian-born Giuseppe Pericolo carries Chicago and Detroit in his heart while working as a civil engineer by day. Structure and rhythm merge, essentially.
CLIZA
Cliza digs through crates with no sense of time, pulling world grooves into collision with funk, electronic heat, punk and alternative. Retro-nostalgia that gets very real, with subtle hints of a tropical holiday.
