Friday, 11:30 @TIFF talks: The new wave of filmmakers

Friday, June 24, the day will begin at TIFF Lounge with a discussion about the new wave of filmmakers, moderated by film critic Ionut Mareş. From 11:30, directors Monica Stan, Alina Grigore and Ligia Ciornei will be invited to the meeting with the TIFF Talks audience. Access to the event will be free, and participation of spectators in the discussion is more than encouraged.
A writer, director and artistic director of the One World Romania festival, Monica Stan directed, together with George Chiper-Lillemark, the feature film Imaculat, awarded with three important awards in Venice, in the section Giornate degli Autor. At TIFF, the film competes in the ZFR competition this year.
Actress Alina Grigore shone on the big screen in successful productions as Ilegitim or Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intenții, both signed by Adrian Sitaru, and in 2021 she debuted as a director with the feature film Blue Moon, awarded with the Grand Prix at San Sebastián.
Ligia Ciornei comes to TIFF with the first feature film she signs – 1986: The Lost Year, in which a woman is forced by her mother to do a miscarriage, for fear that the Chernobyl disaster will affect the development of the future born.
