Geoffrey Rush masterclass for actors and students


Geoffrey Rush is the actor who has amazed the world with his versatility in accepting incredible roles that he has portrayed in films that have become international cinematic masterpieces. He is a symbolic figure in the field of acting, thanks to his impressive ways of embodying characters that have endured in the memory of audiences until today – and will inevitably continue to do so. Geoffrey Rush is originally from Australia and holds the honorable title of the first President of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, also known by the acronym AACTA. In 1997, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, both for his role in the film "Shine."

Among the films that have established him and for which he has become such a relevant name in the world of cinema are "The King's Speech" (2010), "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (2011), "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003), "The Best Offer" (2013), and of course, "Shine" (1996). Throughout his career, he has also been honored with an Emmy Award for his portrayal of the protagonist in "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" and a Tony Award for his role in the absurd play "Exit the King" by Eugène Ionesco.

Therefore, Geoffrey Rush joins the elite group of 24 actors who can pride themselves on the ultimate recognition in acting, known as the Triple Crown of Acting.

During TIFF.22, Geoffrey Rush will hold an acting masterclass aimed at actors, students, and industry professionals, on the topic of "Geoffrey Rush's Collaboration with the Design, Make-Up, and Costume Departments." The masterclass will take place on Thursday, June 15, at 11:30 AM, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, and the event will be moderated by Laura Mușat. At the event, Geoffrey Rush will share his experience as a representative actor in contemporary cinematography. Additionally, on Friday, June 16, at 11:30 AM, you can watch Geoffrey Rush in an open conversation with Mihai Chirilov, intended for the general public.

During TIFF.22, Geoffrey Rush will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
